Since its founding, ASOSAL has created a volunteer committee to work on educational, humanitarian, and cultural projects.
From the beginning, young people and adults have been invited to join forces and, at the same time, teach new generations that we must not forget where we come from or the needs and emergencies that exist in our homeland. Crucially, community support has contributed to fundraising projects that have benefited disadvantaged people in El Salvador.
This year marks 34 years of support and hard work on social projects.
Year after year, a project is selected and fundraising begins and continues until its delivery.
We invite you to join our efforts; only together will we achieve change. Remember that one day we left El Salvador, but El Salvador will never leave us.

When the earthquakes violently shook our country in 2001, ASOSAL was one of the first organizations to provide aid for a community facing natural disasters, delivering around 15 containers with supplies including food, clothing, medicine, and rescue equipment. Subsequently, 150 homes and a medical dispensary were constructed in Cerro Colorado, Cuscatlán department, benefiting 150 families; clean drinking water tanks were also installed in various communities across the country.
All this aid is made possible by year-round fundraising work. Furthermore, wheelchairs have been donated to low-income people in different sectors of the country. Aid is distributed to rural schools in areas such as cantones, caseríos (hamlets), hillsides, and farmlands, providing school packages and uniforms.
The work performed by the Volunteer Committee is a work of human conscience and an altruistic spirit from each member of the group.
Years ago, thousands of toys were sent during the Christmas season. During Hurricane “Ida,” aid was distributed in the Tres Ceibas, Las Hojas, and La Arenera cantones of San Pedro Masahuat, which were severely damaged by the overflowing Jiboa River in the department of La Paz; a batch of linens was also delivered to the Santa Gertrudis Hospital in San Vicente department.
In 2009, the repatriation of the remains of Raul Antonio Larin, who was a victim of brain cancer, was carried out to the department of Ahuachapan, as well as the repatriation of the Campos Gonzales sisters, who died in the Arizona desert attempting to reunite with their mother here in Los Angeles, California, to La Galera cantón, San Vicente department.
By the end of October 2011, in conjunction with Banco Agrícola, FUPEC, and the Mayor’s Office of Huizúcar, three classrooms were delivered to the school in El Almendro settlement, located in El Limón cantón, Huizúcar municipality.
After the torrential storms that struck El Salvador in August and September of 2024, the ASOSAL Volunteer Committee launched a fundraising campaign to provide assistance to these communities.
The activity consisted of selling stickers and soliciting donations, successfully gathering aid to be sent to the affected families.
The communities of Brisas del Mar and Plan del Mango in the department of La Libertad were the beneficiaries of the collected aid.
The aid proposal reached the ASOSAL Board of Directors and was immediately approved due to the emergency. Funds were allocated, and the investment of the donation to the families was executed. The support of the community in their organization was fundamental in ensuring sufficient aid reached all families.
- Basic food baskets and cartons of eggs were provided to each family.
- Poultry farming was promoted by giving out chicks and feed.
- Social activities were held for the youngest community members, including piñatas and recreation.
- Sheet metal and beams were provided to replace unusable roofs, and labor was supplied.
The volunteers mobilized for the delivery of provisions and the social events with the communities, facing difficulties such as limited access and poor weather. Nothing stopped our volunteers, who, motivated and focused on helping, had to overcome all kinds of obstacles. A group from the Board of Directors even traveled to El Salvador to be present and to correctly and fairly manage the donations.
In April 2024, a request was received from the República de Nicaragua School and the Emilia Mercher School Center in Quetzaltepeque, La Libertad.
The request was quickly welcomed by the Board of Directors, and the decision was made to fulfill the request for musical instruments to create and strengthen the peace bands of the mentioned institutions.
The instruments were transported from Los Angeles, CA, to El Salvador, enduring several setbacks, but successfully overcoming each one so that the schools could receive their donation.
The instrument handover was coordinated at an event held within the schools, with an ASOSAL representation that traveled to the facilities in El Salvador.
The instruments will not only strengthen the peace bands of these schools but will also transmit culture to the areas where the schools are located.
If you feel the desire and willingness to help, you can join our team of volunteers and join forces to provide assistance to those most in need.
